Corduroy creator, Don Freeman's Work

The US Navy Museum recently released paintings to the public domain by Don Freeman, a talented artist who went on to write and illustrate the timeless children's book, Corduroy. During WWII Freeman was an illustrator for the New York Times and other publications when he was invited to the Pre-Flight base to capture cadets in action on paper and canvas. You are one of the first to see one of his beautiful paintings from dozens in the Collection.
