Val Heim, From Saipan to Cattle Ranching, Still Going Strong

Over the past two weeks I've had long conversations with former White Sox player Val Heim, the oldest-living MLB who is still going strong. We've talked about cattle ranching and Saipan, where he served in the Navy, helping Seabees build roads and runways. Here's one of my favorite pictures. Notice the hat worn by Val (far left) with the letter "C." Val wrote to Johnny Mostil, his longtime manager and friend, asking for some baseball hats for his buddies. Mostil mailed him this cap -- not from the White Sox, it's from Cincinnati.
