A Living Batboy With More Stories

So, you'll be hearing more soon from another batboy, now 87, who has come forth with some wonderful accounts of Chapel Hill during WWII. His name is "Renny" Reynolds, from Durham, and he's the cutest kid in this picture with deep-set dimples, no shirt, long pants.

Renny was my father's next door neighbor on Vance Street near the Carolina Inn when the military took over much of the campus during the war. He says they pretty much lived at the old Emerson baseball field, where this image was shot in the summer of 1943. More later .....
