Major League Baseball's WWII Veterans

Today there are fewer than 40 surviving major-league WWII veterans. Over the past year I have had the opportunity to meet players including Dodgers Hall of Famer Tommy Lasorda, who served in the Army from 1945 to 1947. Lasorda treasures his service years, summing up his experience with this quote: “The military teaches you to be loyal and ready to defend the United States of America any way you can. When in military uniform, you remember that you are representing the greatest country in the world."
